School Pride

Yes i would be sporting my school colors today...No it isn't really school pride, I just happen to like yellow and want to wear my new black shirt. I suppose i could say i was inspired by bees but that would be a lie too. I really do love my school and am so glad it has good taste in colors.
This is what i call losing my mind during finals week:

These shoes weren't meant for walking

Why is she barefoot, you ask...Read the story below
Thanks a lot sandals for tearing up my heels.

Story time
This morning i had the brilliant idea of wearing my old navy sandals to class. (They looked really cute with my outfit) So I was running a little late and then had to talk to a neighbor, which put me even further behind. I decided to make up time by walking extra fast to the bus stop. BAD IDEA. By the time i made it to the bus stop my heels were killing me. I looked down at them and saw the lovely color red. My feet decided to skip the blister phase and went straight to destruction of skin. Lucky me. I got to spend the next couple of hours in pain while my sandal rubbed the open wound. lovely, i know. I must have looked ridiculous limping and shuffling around campus. I tried to minimize the pain before i went back home. I learned that wet toilet paper as a buffer between skin and a shoe does not work. It completely fell apart and started falling out of my shoe as i was walking. Another ridiculous moment. I sucked up the pain for a while longer. When i got off the bus i gave up on shoes and decided to walk home barefoot. Yet again i am sure i looked ridiculous.
Now i know that some shoes are not made for walking. Don't get me wrong, i love these sandals. I just can't wear them when i have to walk a lot. Lesson learned.

I was so happy to get home and put my feet up and have a glorious cup of coffee.

Do any of you have stories like this or am i the only one?

*Update*
Sydney over at the daybook has these same sandals and she gave me and my feet hope

Monotone

chambray shirt and pull over sweatshirt: old navy, jeans: american eagle, shoes: target, necklace: vintage

While pulling this outfit together i realized how dark and gloomy it looked. To lighten it up i added my floral shoes and a beaded necklace. Sometimes it is the simple accessories that can change the mood of an outfit.

clothes, awards, and reunions

I ordered some clothes from old navy and they arrived. This order included the blue gingham shirt and the sandals.
I love getting new clothes.

Today i wore my outfit to an award ceremony that also acted as a reunion for the new zealand study abroad girls. I loved getting to see these girls...and be there to see my favorite professor get an award.

Hello Yellow

Yesterday Erin and I ventured over to 4th street for a pile sale.
We expected to go through piles of vintage clothing to find some great new old pieces.
Little did we know that it was one giant pile that had to be conquered.
Erin braved the heap and made it to the top of the pile.
In the pile, she found a cute vintage yellow cropped wool sweater/jacket, which i payed $4 for.
Here is how i wore that sweater.

Keeping it Comfortable

I spent my morning in sweat pants and a sweatshirt.
I enjoyed morning television with a cup of coffee.
I spent time in my room listening to music and making the new title banner for this blog.
When my mom got home i got dressed so that we could go grocery shopping.
Since i have a strict no sweat pants in public rule, i changed into a cute yet comfy outfit.

photo fail

So i thought about not even showing this outfit.
The photos didn't do the outfit justice.
The color is distorted and i don't like how they look.
I realized that some clothes just don't photograph well.
This is one of those experiences.
My outfit looked so much better in person.
I am done making excuses for this.
Actual color is similar to one of these

Planning

Sometimes my outfits are spontaneous and other times they are planned and then refined.
For todays outfit i used polvore to help me figure out my outfit.
Some of my clothing items are already saved to the site.
For Other items, i browse what they have and see if i have something similar.
It is a great tool to use if you don't like changing clothes over and over to find what looks right.
Trust me i hate that process...and my room hates it too-->clothes everywhere.
Here is today's process

Better late than never

Sleeping in and lazing around.
I cannot express just how much i enjoy these two things...winter break is the best.

I chose not to laze around all day and actually got dressed for the day at a decent time.
My theory is that if i get dressed then i might actually do something that day.
I suppose it worked.
I made it out of the house for some shopping with the bestie (around 6pm).
Then we came back and spent time watching tv and Midnight in Paris with my parents.
It turned out to be a very enjoyable (and not completely wasted) day.

letting go

Today i worked on cleaning my room.
Now that the semester is done, i could actually focus on the nitty gritty.
I folded laundry, cleaned out drawers, got them organized, and added to the pile of clothes to get rid of.
I didn't finish cleaning, but it's a start.
I even went through my junk drawers and threw away lots of stuff. (mainly old school assignments and notes)

Outfit of the day
(note: the pile of clothes on the floor behind me = stuff i'm getting rid of; stack on the right=laundry)
(owl belt and yellow shirt = target; scarf and sweater = forever 21)

Pushing Limits

How did you guys spend your Saturday?

It was the most terrifying, exhilarating, fulfilling experience. It pushed my limits every time i climbed that 23 foot ladder, every time i had to put my left hand on the bar to join my right hand, every time i hopped off the platform. But i did it. And i am so glad i did.
Here are some of the pictures from that day:

Sunday:
Today i woke up so sore from flying the day before.
My arms, shoulders, back of the knees, and abs all hurt today.
All of the aches and pains were worth it.

Christmas mug of coffee...makes everything better
